(Pinus x attenuradiata)
A rare hybrid pine cross between Knobcone pine (Pinus attenuata) and Monterey pine (Pinus radiata) both native to California but can grow well in British Columbia. Similar to Knobcone pine but grows faster and has a more intermediate form. It grows well in sandy or clay soils and prefers full sunlight. As a hybrid species, it is sometimes mistakenly thought to be sterile, but in fact hybrid pine species are usually fertile and can reproduce readily.
Germination: Soak seeds in water for 12 hours. Cold stratify for 60 days. Sow 1-2cm deep in moist potting soil.
