(Pinus balfouriana)
This rare pine species is native to California. Growing between 10 and 20 meters typically, this is similar and closely related to the Rocky Mountain bristlecone pine. It is predicted that this pine can live up to 3000 years in the right conditions. Needles are firm, with cones being produces upwards of 16cm in size.
Germination: Soak in water and let stand for 24 hours. Cold stratify for 90 days. Sow 5-10mm deep, tamping soil and ensure seed bed is mulched.
