Serviceberry is a common tree native to eastern Canada found in a variety of regions. Typically growing 5-12m in height, this small tree produces edible berries enjoyed by humans and wildlife alike. Serviceberry trees are adaptable to different soil types except very wet areas, and requires partial to full sun.
Germination: Soak seeds for 24 hours and drain. Stratify for 60 days at room temperature in a zipper bag with some vermiculite or damp sand, followed by 90 to 120 days moist and in the fridge. Sow in pots 3-4mm deep and cover lightly with soil to germinate. Water lightly, keeping soil moist but not wet.
