(Pinus edulis)

Colorado Pinyon pine, or two-needle pinyon, is a species of pinyon pine native to the southwestern US states. It is a small to medium sized tree, with green needles in groups of two, approximately 3-6 cm long. The growth rate of this species of pine is among one of the slowest-growing pines in its natural desert habitat. Cones are globose, 3-5cm long and wide, containing approximately 10-20 seeds each when mature. Known for its edible seeds, pinus edulis is known to hybridize with other pinyon pine species, such as pinus monophylla.

Germination: Soak seeds for 24 hours. Place seeds into a pot and keep soil moist.
