A general purpose grass seed, "Fescue to the Rescue" is a mix featuring multiple types of fescue. This mix will be applicable for sunny and shady areas. The mix also possesses some low-maintenance properties not requiring as much fertilizer or water.

For small areas distribute by hand. If you are using a fertilizer spreader, use a low setting. Grass seeds require soil contact to germinate and should not be covered by more than 1/4in (7mm) of soil. Provide frequent water and attention to freshly seeded areas.
