Western hemlock is a species native to coastal British Columbia near sea level and parts of the interior. Known for its attractive foliage and small cones, it grows 30 - 50m tall in favourable conditions. The needles are nearly flat, glossy and dark green and whitish underneath, approximately 8-12mm long and vary in direction and length. Cones are small, numerous and brown, approximately 2-3cm long with rounded, thin scales. 

Germination: Soak in water for 24 hours. Cold stratify for 90 days. Sow 1-2cm in moist seed bed.
