(Pinus mugo var. rostrata)
Mountain or mugo pine is typically a shrub-like tree used in landscaping across Canada and native to Europe, but the rostrata variety is more akin to a very dense full upright tree-like habit and form and adapted to harsh climates. Its dark green needles are in pairs of two, 3-6cm long and slightly curved. Cones are brown, round to egg shaped and 3-6 cm long. This slow-growing species of pine is very commonly used as an ornamental and as a bonsai.
Germination: Soak in water for 24 hours. Cold stratify for 60 days. Sow 1-2cm deep in sterile potting mix.
Packet contains at least 50 seeds.
