(Pinus peuce)
Macedonian pine is native to the mountainous regions of the Balkans. Growing up to 40m in height in good conditions, it grows well in Ontario and British Columbia. Its needle-like leaves are soft, green, 6-10cm long and in bundles of five. Its cones are yellow brown, 8-20cm long and are similar to Eastern white pine. Growth habit is tall and straight, with a conical crown. Often used as an ornamental tree for gardens and parks.
Germination: Soak in water for 24 hours. Cold stratify for 180 days. Sow 1-2cm deep in sterile potting mix.
