(Pinus monticola)
Western white pine is a species native to British Columbia and is one of the tallest coniferous evergreen trees in Canada, growing often 30-50m in height and sometimes over 70m in exceptional specimens. Its needle-like leaves are green and come in bundles of 5 and tend to have a prominent white stripe beneath. Western white pine has large cones compared to Eastern white pine, usually 15-30cm long and 5-8cm across with a cylindrical shape.
Germination: Soak in cold water for 24 hours. Place into soil medium and cold stratify for 30-60 days for best results. Remove and sow in soil 1-2cm deep at room temperature.
