Known also as Northern spicebush, it is a small deciduous woody plant growing 2-3m tall. It grows in a clonal colony, producing thickets over time. Its leaves are green, alternate, 5-10cm long and obovate in shape. The plant has a pleasant aroma that is produced when the leaves or seeds are crushed from which it draws its name.

Germination: Soak in water for 24 hours. Cold stratify for 90 days. Plant in sterile moist potting soil mix 1-2cm deep.
